Monument Regional Peer Support Team Bios

I have been a Paramedic with Tri-Lakes Monument for 5 years and prior to that I worked at Flight for Life specializing in pediatrics but left when the kids really got to me.  I have been through a divorce but have been remarried for 10 years and I have a 14-year-old daughter. I became interested in Peer Support after being called to the Aurora Theater Shooting. Healing from that personally and helping others around me highlighted a greater need in our profession, not only after major events, but in day-to-day life as well.

 Hi, I'm Carrie. I've been a paramedic for over 20 years and with  Monument Fire for 8. I love traveling, yoga and spending time with my  kids, ages 13 and 11. I am divorced and remarried. My husband is a  veteran and retired from another fire department for PTSD.  I have seen too many times first hand, in others and myself, the  effects this job can have on someone. Between the calls we run and the  side of life we see it can affect all parts of our lives and our  families. I joined peer support because I want to give  back to the career I love and co-workers who are a second family. 

  I  have been with the fire department since 2011 and currently work as an  Engineer. I’m married with two teenage children. I grew up in Atlanta,  relocated  to Colorado for college, and have been here ever since. I joined the  peer support team in 2021, which seemed like a good role for me having  served as DWFD’s chaplain in the past. I have appreciated fellow  firefighters coming alongside of me when I have had  work and personal life struggles in the past, and I want to be  available to others to share in the good and bad of life and the job  together.

 My  name is Maverick Keigher. I’ve been with Monument Fire Department since  2021. I got married in 2022 to my lovely wife. I was born and raised in  Colorado Springs. I enjoy  the outdoors! One of my favorite parts of the job is building  relationships. I believe that through those relationships we can help  each other at work and outside of work! Knowing that we all go through  struggle’s I joined the peer support team to be available  in those tough times or if you just want to catch up! 

 I am a firefighter at Monument Fire, and have been employed here since 2023. Before that I volunteered at a small fire department in the San Luis Valley for a year and a half. I love riding dirt bikes and snowmobiles, and enjoy being outdoors in general. As a young guy, I realize I don’t have a lot of experience in the fire service, but I genuinely care about my brothers and sisters. I wouldn’t be where I am if it wasn’t for the ones that went before me and helped me become who I am. I want to be a listening ear and a helping hand to those that come after me.

 I’m a Sergeant with the Monument Police Department. I’ve been with MPD  for over six years where I started as a patrol officer. I was also  detective, and as a Corporal, the agency training coordinator. Prior to  this I spent 20 years in the  military where I retired in 2018. I have been married for almost 23  years and have a 18-year-old son. During my time in the military, I was  involved in the personal and professional lives of the service members I  was responsible for and to, both at home, and  overseas. I want nothing more than to help my peers in any way that I  can, whether it’s a walk, a talk, or a session of range therapy. 

I am a Lieutenant and have been with Tri-Lakes Monument Fire for over 15  years and before that I was with Cimarron Hills Fire for 11 years.  I  have been married for 32 years and have 3 children.  I have experienced  loss both on and off the job and rely on God  and others to share, cope, and heal over time instead of continuing to  stuff things down inside.  Don’t feel like you are alone in your  stress.  I joined the peer support team to ensure others don’t have to  feel alone in their experiences.

  My name is Josh Teeples. I grew up in a military family throughout my  youth. Growing up around the military allowed me to live in, and  experience many of the States within the United States, as well as  travel around the world.

I moved to Colorado in 2006 to play football and go to college at Adams  State University. My wife and I met in college and have two wonderful  children. In 2017 I began working as a police officer in Aurora, CO. In  2020 I made a change and began working in residential  real estate in the Denver area. I joined the Monument Police Department  in November 2024.

I become a peer supporter because I have a passion for wellness and  helping others. I have worked through some major obstacles in my  professional and personal life and want to be there to support others  when challenges arise in their own lives.

  I have been an Officer with the Monument Police Department since February 2024 and I am currently assigned to the patrol division. I have been in law enforcement since 2021. I am a Colorado native and a Monument local. I have been married for 12 years and have a young son. I love being outside, hiking and fly fishing. I also love exercising in the weight room and training Jiu Jitsu. Through my previous career and my current time in law enforcement, I have found my passion for communicating with and helping people. I look forward to being there for my fellow responders. 

 I have been with MFD since 2013.  My wife Naomi and I have been married  since 2006 and we have three kiddos...Kinsley, Cole, and Austin.  I  joined the Peer Support Team because I believe we are meant to help  carry each other's burdens in community rather than  in isolation.   None of us are immune to the challenges of life, both  professionally and personally.  It is my desire for people to know they  are seen, heard, and valued no matter their life circumstances.
