I serve on the Peer Support Team so I can be present for my fellow providers in both good times and difficult ones.
I enjoy having fun, but I take this role seriously. It is a position of trust, and I am committed to honoring that responsibility with care, respect, and dedication.
EMS is a family. When one of our family members is in need, they should know they are not alone—and that their EMS family is ready to support them and have their back.

I am on peer support because over my career I’ve had a roller coaster of experiences. Some of those dips lead to some really dark and isolating moments in my life, and if not for one or two conversations I had with someone during those times I may not be here today. I don’t want others to feel that isolation, and that’s why I have been on peer support since we started it. In addition to that I am horrible at grammar and spelling so there’s that. I am the okayiest medic and happy to listen so reach out if you need to talk.
In closing everyone should know,
WE ARE……. PENN STATE!!!!

I have gone through my own mental health journey while in EMS, and I was blessed to have such amazing support through all of it. I want to encourage others to reach out when they need help and continue bringing light to mental health for first responders.
I am married and have a full house with 3 dogs (Harley-Quinn, Cortana and Winn Dixie) and 4 kitties (Kratos, Princess Peach, Obi-Wan and Anakin). I have a plethora of hobbies ranging from video games to cooking to hiking to embroidery.
I hope people will recognize the need for peer support, and we can continue to fight the false pretense that struggling with anxiety, depression and suicide makes you weak. As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to anyone for help. It takes a lot of strength to recognize when you are struggling and seek support. Be strong.
